When the My name is Herbert Kallenbach. I am a practicing lawyer in Munich, Germany. I am the descendant of three Jewish Grandparents. However, I am not a practicing Jew and have never been a practicing Jew. I do not belong to a religion as well. But because I am the descendant of Jews, I am considered a Jew by the Nuremberg Laws.
The Nuremberg Laws placed by the Nazi party have ruined my life. I am no longer allowed to practice Law in Germany. I am constantly ridiculed as I walk the streets of Munich. And I am not allowed in many businesses around the city. And all of this is because I had Jewish grandparents. I am having to suffer for something that is out of my control. I can't help but think I have the worst luck ever.
When the Olympics came in 1936, the laws became less strict. I was able to go into the market right across my apartment instead of having to walk across town. Walking on the streets became more bearable. I had almost forgotten the laws still exist. I was still not able to practice law and am still struggling to find work. It seems that every business in town is getting rid of Jewish workers. the new term is "Aryanizing".
I always ask myself "what has this world come to?" I hope that these laws do not last much longer. But as I now I cannot see an end in sight. It seems the world is blind to what is going in Germany. And no one has the power to destroy the Reich, yet.
